UAE Women’s Tour Wins 2025 ISC Global Award for Excellence in Sports

Al Awani highlighted that this recognition follows the successful third edition of the race held in February 2025, which saw participation from top international cyclists representing 20 global teams

The UAE Women’s Tour, the only international cycling race in the Middle East listed on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar, has won the prestigious 2025 “ISC” Global Award. The announcement was made during the International Sports Conference held in London, where the event was recognised for its outstanding contribution to the growth of women’s sports globally.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the UAE Women’s Tour is one of the region’s most significant sports events, serving as a powerful platform for empowering women in the athletic field. The event’s success, especially in terms of organisation, public engagement, and global influence, has earned it this international recognition. The award acknowledges the tour’s key role in promoting women’s cycling, raising awareness, and inspiring female athletes worldwide.

Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, expressed his pride in the recognition, stating: “The UAE Women’s Tour receiving this global award underscores the UAE’s leading position in organising world-class sports events. It also reflects our vision in supporting and developing women’s sports according to the highest international standards.”

Al Awani highlighted that this recognition follows the successful third edition of the race held in February 2025, which saw participation from top international cyclists representing 20 global teams. The race consisted of four diverse stages, showcasing the UAE’s rich natural terrain, from its desert landscapes to the coastal roads, offering a challenging yet visually stunning course for competitors. This diversity in the race’s route further enhances the UAE’s appeal as a global sports destination.

The UAE Women’s Tour is part of the country’s broader strategy to boost the visibility of women’s sports and provide a platform for female athletes to showcase their skills on an international stage. The event not only highlights the UAE’s commitment to advancing women’s participation in sports but also serves as a catalyst for greater investment in women’s athletic programs across the Middle East.
The third edition of the race was met with enthusiastic crowds and extensive media coverage, further solidifying the UAE Women’s Tour’s reputation as one of the most well-organised and impactful sporting events in the region. Through such events, the UAE aims to continue to pave the way for the development of women’s sports, both locally and globally.

Looking ahead, Al Awani remarked, “This recognition marks the beginning of more achievements to come. The success of this event contributes to the development of the local and international sports scene and positions Abu Dhabi as a leading hub for global sports events.”

As the UAE Women’s Tour continues to grow, it remains a beacon of progress for women in sports, exemplifying how sporting events can create opportunities for gender equality and inspire future generations of female athletes. This win at the ISC Global Awards reinforces the UAE’s position as a driving force in advancing the international development of women’s cycling.
