UAE’s TradeTech Push Takes Centre Stage in Davos

UAE accelerates the future of trade with AI, blockchain, and IoT, fostering innovation and inclusivity in global commerce…reports Asian Lite News

At the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, showcased the UAE’s pioneering role in transforming global trade systems. During a panel discussion on “Hacking Trade and Investment,” Al Zeyoudi highlighted the nation’s vision of leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI, blockchain, and IoT to enhance trade efficiency, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Announcing the release of the second edition of the TradeTech Report, Al Zeyoudi revealed how advanced technologies are driving significant changes in global trade. The report, a key element of the UAE’s TradeTech initiative launched in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), underscores AI’s potential to boost global trade by up to 13.6% by 2040.

The Minister emphasised the UAE’s commitment to creating a smarter, more resilient global trading ecosystem. He highlighted real-world applications of AI, robotics, and IoT in the UAE’s trade operations, citing their role in addressing challenges and enhancing transparency in global supply chains. Al Zeyoudi also shared updates on the TradeTech Accelerator, which has already onboarded 15 startups, and the TradeTech Sandbox, an initiative designed to test and refine emerging technologies in collaboration with regulators.

In his closing remarks, Al Zeyoudi stressed the importance of global cooperation and interoperability in maximising the potential of AI in trade, warning against risks like “AI divergence” that could fragment global trade systems. He called for continued investment in workforce development and digital infrastructure to ensure the benefits of AI are widely shared.
