United Arab Emirates has recently witnessed a vibrant convergence of many art events. One of the interesting ones was an inaugural TAF – The Art Fest International, held from February 14 to 16, 2025, at the Taj, Business Bay and it offered an interesting experience with emerging artists peppered with a few canvases from celebrated creativity.

The festival was spearheaded by Founder Suraj Laheru, renowned for his successful art fairs across India, and Festival Director Minali N. Thakkar, a distinguished art advisor celebrated for her expertise in contemporary and master art. Their combined vision created a platform that bridges cultures and fosters a global dialogue through art.

Embracing the theme “Hand in Hand: The Future of Art,” TAF aligned with Dubai’s “Year of Community,” emphasizing unity and collaboration. The festival’s centerpiece was an installation embodying the UAE’s national slogan, “Hand in Hand” which symbolized the bridging of cultures.

Honoring the legacy of legendry artists M.F. Husain, B. Prabha, S.H. Raza, J. Swaminathan, and Manjit Bawa. In addition, the “The Lineage: Vanshavali,” highlighted the works of late Indian artist Gopal Adivlekar and their collective works highlighting the harmonious blend of individual styles and the enduring strength of familial bonds in shaping art.

“Art transcends boundaries, uniting cultures and inspiring conversations that shape the future.”

Bringing together multiple galleries, encouraging emerging artists, this offers an international platform to showcase their work. Awards were presented in multiple categories, both for an open call for the region’s talent and for fostering local talent and integrating them into the global art scene.

What set it apart TAF offered a range of interactive opportunities, including live art demonstrations, workshops, and panel discussions led by art experts. These sessions provided educational experiences and facilitated personal engagement with artists, enriching the festival’s immersive atmosphere. The festival aimed to further solidify the UAE’s position as a key art destination, promoting cultural innovation and artistic investment.
