UAE welcomes India’s all-party delegation

The United Arab Emirates is the first stop on this strategic tour, with the delegation engaging UAE leadership, parliamentarians, and media in a series of high-level meetings.

In a significant diplomatic outreach, a high-level Indian all-party parliamentary delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Dr Shrikant Eknath Shinde arrived in Abu Dhabi as part of a broader four-nation campaign to brief key global partners on Operation Sindoor and India’s stance against cross-border terrorism.

The United Arab Emirates is the first stop on this strategic tour, with the delegation engaging UAE leadership, parliamentarians, and media in a series of high-level meetings. The visit comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, in which several tourists were killed. The UAE was one of the first countries to unequivocally condemn the attack, and both President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan personally conveyed condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar via phone.

The Indian delegation includes notable political figures and experts, including Bansuri Swaraj, ET Mohd Basheer, Atul Garg, Shri Sasmit Patra, Manan Kumar Mishra, Surendrajeet Singh Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

In a key meeting today, the delegation met with Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Co-Existence, who reiterated his country’s solidarity with India. “India and UAE will tackle terrorism together. The UAE will always stand by India,” he said.

Further discussions were held with Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior & Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council, and senior Emirati parliamentarians. The Indian delegation highlighted the targeted and calibrated nature of Operation Sindoor, stressing that India’s response to terrorism was precise, defensive, and designed to avoid escalation. Dr Al Nuaimi echoed support, saying, “The India-UAE relationship is beyond trade and culture; it encompasses security and strategic issues. Terrorism is against the whole of humanity and the international community must act now.”

The delegation also met with Dr Jamal Al Kaabi, Director General of the UAE National Media Office, to address misinformation campaigns allegedly driven by Pakistan. They shared evidence-based rebuttals to disinformation and called for global media vigilance against propaganda.

Speaking to The National, UAE’s leading English-language daily, Dr Shinde outlined India’s long-standing battle against terrorism, underlining Prime Minister Modi’s establishment of a “new normal” in responding to cross-border terror threats with swift, sovereign action such as Operation Sindoor.

The day concluded with an emotional interaction with the Indian diaspora in the UAE, where the delegation praised the community for embodying India’s core values of unity, pluralism, and tolerance. They urged the diaspora to continue resisting divisive narratives and reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for its overseas citizens.

The All-party delegation held discussions with Dr Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director General, UAE’s National Media Office.

On Friday, the delegation is scheduled to hold strategic dialogues with prominent think tanks and thought leaders in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, further consolidating diplomatic support for India’s anti-terrorism policy and regional security cooperation.
