UAE Stands Firm on Palestinian Cause

The UAE reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to regional stability, including the sovereignty of Egypt and Jordan.

The United Arab Emirates reaffirmed its longstanding policy stance on the Palestinian cause during the Arab League Council’s Extraordinary Arab Summit on the Palestinian Cause, held in Cairo on 4th March 2025.

Addressing the summit, the UAE emphasised the urgency of responsible approaches and decisive resolutions in light of the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It underscored the importance of prioritising political and peaceful solutions over confrontation, warning that continued escalation would further destabilise the region.

The UAE highlighted the significance of restraint and wisdom, particularly given recent developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories since 7th October 2023. Despite the ceasefire agreement brokered on 15th January 2025 through diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, tensions persist, necessitating a comprehensive approach to conflict resolution.

Reiterating its condemnation of violence and Israel’s illegal actions in the occupied West Bank, the UAE denounced all provocative measures targeting Palestinians. It also criticised recent statements by Israeli officials regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi Arabian territory, calling them unacceptable and counterproductive to peace efforts.

The UAE urged the international community to take responsibility in halting ongoing Israeli violations of international law and the UN Charter. It also reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to regional stability, including the sovereignty of Egypt and Jordan. The UAE stressed that forced displacement would only exacerbate tensions within Arab and Muslim communities and contribute to further unrest.

Reflecting on the unprecedented destruction in Gaza in recent months, the UAE asserted that temporary solutions had failed and that returning to the status quo before 7th October 2023 was neither viable nor acceptable. It called for a long-term political process aimed at resolving the broader Palestinian-Israeli conflict, advocating for a two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside Israel.

The UAE also emphasised that efforts to stabilise and rebuild Gaza could not proceed without a clear political resolution. It rejected any displacement of Gaza’s residents and maintained that the territory must be governed by a legitimate and responsible Palestinian authority capable of ensuring security, stability, and the rule of law.

“We see the importance of mobilising Arab, regional, and international efforts behind this path and ensuring active participation to achieve it, including by the United States, to establish a sustainable solution that secures stability and prosperity for the region and fulfils the aspirations of the Palestinian people,” the UAE stated.

The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people through diplomatic efforts aimed at alleviating their suffering. It stressed that its approach aligns with its foreign policy principles of promoting peace, justice, and the protection of Palestinian rights. The UAE pledged to continue working closely with regional and international partners to advance peaceful coexistence and find lasting political solutions to conflicts in the region.

Furthermore, the UAE reiterated its dedication to providing humanitarian and relief assistance to Palestinians. It confirmed that Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 remains ongoing, delivering critical aid to Gaza by land, sea, and air. This, it stated, reflects the UAE’s broader foreign policy objectives of fostering stability, promoting prosperity, and prioritising humanitarian initiatives at both regional and international levels.

Concluding its address at the summit, the UAE expressed hope that Arab nations would achieve a unified stance on collective action to overcome existing challenges. It called for a shared commitment to securing peace, stability, and prosperity for the region and its people.
