Houthis Will Pay Heavy Price, Warns Netanyahu

Israel intensifies strikes on Yemen, targeting key Houthi-controlled sites after repeated drone and missile attacks. PM Netanyahu vows relentless action, calling Houthis a “threat to Israel and the region.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Yemen’s Houthi forces, stating they will “pay a heavy price for their aggression” against Israel. Labeling the Houthis as an Iranian proxy and a regional threat, Netanyahu underscored Israel’s resolve to counter such hostilities.

Netanyahu’s remarks followed airstrikes by Israeli warplanes on the Hezyaz power station in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, and the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa. The Israeli military described the strikes as targeting Houthi infrastructure used for military operations.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, observing the operations from Tel Aviv, stated, “The port of Hodeidah is paralysed, and the Ras Issa port is ablaze,” adding that the strikes sent a strong message to Houthi leaders. “Israel’s long arm reaches anywhere that threatens us — even in Yemen,” he said.

This is Israel’s fifth large-scale strike on Yemen, as per Army Radio. The military reported that since October 2023, Houthi forces have launched approximately 40 missiles and 320 drones toward Israel, most of which were intercepted.

The Houthis initiated their attacks during the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, citing solidarity with Palestinians. The escalation has also drawn action from the US-led naval coalition in the region, which has been targeting Houthi sites since January 2024.
