In a powerful display of religious tolerance and coexistence, over 275 people from diverse faiths gathered at the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai for the 13th annual interfaith iftar. The event underscored the UAE’s commitment to fostering harmony and inclusivity during the holy month of Ramadan.
Attendees included representatives from the Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim communities, alongside distinguished guests such as HE Mirza Al Sayegh, Indian Consul General in Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan, and HE Major General Ahmad Khalfan Al Mansoori. Their presence highlighted the significance of interfaith dialogue and solidarity in today’s world.

The annual interfaith iftar has become a cornerstone event in Dubai’s religious and cultural landscape, bringing together people from different backgrounds in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding.
Promoting Religious Tolerance and Harmony
The interfaith iftar provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, bringing together individuals of different religious and cultural backgrounds. The UAE has long been recognised as a beacon of coexistence, with people from over 200 nationalities living harmoniously within its borders. This gathering was yet another testament to the country’s commitment to upholding religious freedom and peaceful cohabitation.
Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman of Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara, emphasised the values shared between Ramadan and Sikhism, particularly those of compassion and service. “By helping others, we not only serve a greater purpose but also make this world a kinder, more compassionate place,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’ initiative, Dr. Kandhari also paid tribute to the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “This Year of Community is about supporting each other, celebrating unity, and working towards a more inclusive society where no one is left behind,” he stated.
A Spirit of Togetherness
The event was celebrated by Bubbles Kandhari, Vice-Chairperson of Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara, who highlighted the importance of gatherings that reinforce unity. “In moments like these, we experience the true spirit of understanding, compassion, and shared blessings that bring us closer together,” she said.
HE Mirza Al Sayegh, addressing the attendees, reinforced that all religions advocate for peace and tolerance. “If we talk about solidarity, this is what solidarity looks like,” he noted. “Here in the Gurudwara, we come together as one community, united in spirit, regardless of our faiths.”
Recognising Inclusivity and Shared Humanity
Indian Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan lauded the efforts of the Gurudwara in fostering inclusivity. “Ramadan is the time when the spirit of unity comes to the forefront in the best possible way. This gathering exemplifies the values of compassion, peace, and shared humanity, reminding us of the importance of coming together, regardless of our differences,” he said.

The annual interfaith iftar has become a cornerstone event in Dubai’s religious and cultural landscape, bringing together people from different backgrounds in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding. With growing global divisions, events like this serve as a crucial reminder that shared humanity must always triumph over discord.
Commitment to a More Inclusive Future
The 13th edition of this gathering reaffirmed that love, respect, and peace remain essential to maintaining harmony in an increasingly complex world. The UAE’s commitment to promoting these values was evident as religious leaders, diplomats, and community members broke their fast together, sharing not just a meal but also a vision of unity and hope.

As the UAE continues to champion religious tolerance on the world stage, events like the interfaith iftar at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara serve as vital reminders of the power of togetherness. This year’s gathering, once again, demonstrated that diversity is not just something to be acknowledged but actively celebrated.
