Azizi Pledges AED 80 million

Azizi Developments pledges AED 80 million to the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department for mosque construction and maintenance across Dubai.

Azizi Developments, a prominent private real estate developer in the UAE, has announced a significant contribution of AED 80 million towards the construction and maintenance of mosques across Dubai. The initiative, launched in partnership with the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), aims to enhance religious infrastructure in the emirate, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community development and philanthropy.

As part of the agreement, Azizi Developments will build five mosques in key locations and sponsor the maintenance of ten existing mosques for the next five years. The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The agreement was formally signed by Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments.

“In this holy month of Ramadan, I am pleased to announce our commitment to constructing five mosques and contributing towards the upkeep of ten more,” said Mirwais Azizi. “Dubai has given us so much, and this initiative is our way of giving back to the community. These mosques will serve as spaces for prayer, reflection, and social connection, further enriching the spiritual and cultural fabric of the emirate.”

The new mosques will be strategically located in Azizi’s developments, including Riviera in Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Venice in Dubai South, and three other locations yet to be disclosed. The project will also include dedicated endowments (Waqf) to ensure sustainable funding for mosque maintenance and operations, aligning with Dubai’s long-term vision for philanthropy and community engagement.

The Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department will oversee the management and maintenance of these mosques, ensuring they meet the highest standards in serving worshippers and fostering a strong sense of community.

This latest initiative builds on Azizi Developments’ track record of corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, which have seen the company contribute significantly to humanitarian and social causes. The developer has previously donated AED 100 million to the 1 Billion Meals initiative and AED 600 million to the Mother’s Endowment campaign. Earlier this year, Azizi also made history with the largest charitable donation ever made by a private entity in the UAE—AED 3 billion—to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

Beyond philanthropy, Azizi Developments continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Dubai’s urban landscape. The company has delivered over 40,000 residential and commercial units and currently has approximately 150,000 units under construction. Notably, it is also developing the world’s second-tallest skyscraper and an AED 2.5 billion opera house as part of its cultural district at Azizi Venice.

With its latest mosque initiative, Azizi Developments reinforces its long-standing vision of contributing to Dubai’s growth—not only through real estate but also by supporting meaningful social and religious projects that enhance the lives of its residents.
