UAE vows efforts to preserve Syria’s unity, sovereignty

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed the developments in the region and the current situation in Syria with his counterparts from Arab and other regional nations.

In a phone call with Dr Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of supporting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and ensuring the security and stability of the brotherly Syrian people.

The two sides also discussed several issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on them.

Speaking to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of safeguarding Syria’s unity and sovereignty, supporting its security and stability, and addressing the aspirations of its people for development and progress.

Sheikh Abdullah also held a telephone conversation with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi. The two top diplomats reviewed ways to enhance international efforts to preserve Syria’s unity and sovereignty and to meet the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and a dignified life.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah also dialled his Russia counterpart Sergey Lavrov and discussed the overall regional developments, particularly the situation in Syria.

The two sides reviewed the importance of strengthening regional and international efforts aimed at supporting peace and fostering stability in the region, benefiting all its nations and peoples.

They emphasised the need to strengthen the role of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen.

Furthermore, they stressed the importance of adhering to and implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to achieve a political settlement in Syria that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, stability, and prosperity.
