Blockbuster Duo Returns, L2 – Empuraan’ Shoots into Action

In the realm of Malayalam cinema, the collaboration between the Complete Actor Mohanlal and the versatile actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran created waves with the blockbuster “Lucifer.” The film, not only a hit in its original language but also in various dubbed and remade versions, set new standards in the industry. Now, the dynamic duo is back to treat fans with a sequel to their cinematic marvel, titled “L2 – Empuraan.”

The much-anticipated “L2 – Empuraan” commenced its shooting in early October and is a joint production by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. This sequel is gearing up for a simultaneous release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, promising to reach a wider audience.

The Instagram post featured a captivating poster with Megastar Mohanlal’s back to the camera, embodying his alter ego Khureshi Ab’raam, a formidable crime syndicate lord. For those unfamiliar with the prequel, “Lucifer,” the film hinted at Stephen’s character having a mysterious past as Khureshi Ab’raam. “L2 – Empuraan” is poised to delve deeper into this intriguing backstory.

Prithviraj, known for his acting prowess, ventured into directing with “Lucifer,” which not only became a massive hit but also one of Malayalam cinema’s highest-grossing films until 2023. The actor-director will also be seen on screen, reprising his role as Zayed Masood.

Described as an enthralling power-packed political action thriller, “L2: Empuraan” is expected to be one of the most significant Malayalam releases of the year, alongside other highly anticipated films like ‘Kannur Squad’ and ‘2018.’

Prithviraj Sukumaran, in a social media post, welcomed #LycaProductions to the Malayalam cinema industry. He expressed his honor at their collaboration and shared that the second installment of the “Lucifer” franchise had started rolling from October 5, 2023. The joint production between #AashirvadCinemas and #LycaProductions is set to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline and stellar performances. “L2 – Empuraan” is undoubtedly a cinematic journey that fans are eagerly awaiting.
