Sheikh Abdullah dials Lapid after Israel visit

The trip is Sheikh Abdullah’s second visit to Israel since the UAE and Israel decided to normalise ties in September 2020…reports Asian Lite News

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a telephone call to Yair Lapid, Prime Minister of the State of Israel.

During the phone conversation, Sheikh Abdullah thanked Prime Minister Lapid for the warm reception during his recent visit at the head of an official delegation to the State of Israel, which coincided with the two countries’ celebration of the two-year anniversary of their signing of the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement.

The trip is Sheikh Abdullah’s second visit to Israel since the UAE and Israel decided to normalise ties in September 2020.

The UAE and Bahrain signed US-brokered agreements to normalise their ties with Israel in September 2020. The move was followed later by Sudan and Morocco.

The UAE FM stressed that the success of the two countries in building fruitful and solid relations is a clear embodiment of the benefits of peace for ”our region and our ability” to work together for a prosperous future for generations.

He commended the statement of Lapid before the United Nations General Assembly in New York, during which he stressed the importance of peace for the peoples of the region and called for a two-state solution to achieve security and stability for the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

Sheikh Abdullah also congratulated the Israeli Prime Minister on the occasion of the Jewish New Year, expressing his aspiration for the growth and development of relations between the two countries at all levels for the benefit of their peoples.

The UAE Foreign Minister was in Israel earlier this month with a delegation that included three other government ministers.

“We are changing the Middle East together. We are moving it from war to peace, from terrorism to economic cooperation, from a mess of violence and fanaticism to a dialogue of tolerance and cultural curiosity,” the Israeli Prime Minister said.
