Shehbaz discusses ousting Imran with estranged PTI leader

Pakistan’s Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has held a secret meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s estranged leader Jehangir Khan Tareen and discussed the ouster of the Imran Khan government, according to local media.

The meeting comes in the wake of the opposition’s announcement to move a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

When asked about his meeting with Sharif, Tareen without confirming or denying said that being a politician, he believes in interaction with other politicians. Such contacts are part of politics, The News International reported.

Talking about the country’s economic condition, Tareen said that everybody is upset over the economic condition of the country because of the growing price hike.

Earlier, this week, many parliamentarians supporting estranged PTI leader Jehangir Khan Tareen met twice in Lahore and reposed their complete confidence in him and vowed to stand by him, The News International reported.

Amid the rising inflation in the country, the Imran Khan government recently dropped a “petrol bomb” on the masses by increasing the prices of petroleum products by up to Rs 12.03 per litre.

Besides politicians, traders, farmers, businessmen and people from all walks of life had expressed their serious concerns over the latest government move that, according to them, would bring a new wave of price-hike and inflation in the country, making it difficult for the middle and working classes to survive.

Jamaat-e-Islami slams Imran govt

Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ameer Sirajul Haq has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government led by Imran Khan has practically proved to be a disastrous tsunami for the country, which destroyed every institution over the last three-and-a-half years, and the worst damage it caused was to surrender the countrys economic control to the IMF and the world money lenders, The News reported.

Haq was addressing the third public sit-in at Gujranwala on Friday, in connection with the proposed 101 sit-ins against the PTI government’s ‘bad governance, putting the State Bank under IMF’s control, IMF-dictated economic policies, causing continuous inflation and bringing mini-budgets to meet IMF’s demands, massive corruption and unemployment’.

A large number of men, women and children participated in the sit-in, raising slogans against the government, holding banners and party flags. As part of the sit-in campaign, JI workers earlier staged sit-ins in Gujrat and Sheikhupura in the previous weeks.

Haq termed the PTI government as the worst in the country’s history, which devalued national currency by over 58 per cent without the country fighting any war or undergoing any emergency, the report said.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan must tell the nation about his performance until now instead of making false announcements in public meetings.

Citing the recent Rs 12 per litre hike in petrol price, he said that Khan had initially rejected the OGRA summary, but later approved it when he was told that the IMF had demanded it.

Haq said the Prime Minister had promised to provide 10 million jobs, but the government instead rendered millions jobless. (ANI)
