Pak govt to move court over ‘insulting’ remarks against Bushra Bibi

When contacted by the media, Farah Khan rejected the news of a fight between Khan and Bushra and their separation. She said the First Lady was not staying at her place….reports Asian Lite News

A close aide of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan warned on Sunday that the government was going to move court against the journalist who issued “insulting and fabricated” statements against Pak First Lady Bushra Bibi, Daily Pakistan reported.

Special Assistant to the Pak Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill said “strict legal action will be taken against those who spread false news about the First Lady”, the report said.

A journalist had claimed a day ago that Bushra Bibi had “got into a fight with PM Imran Khan” and left Bani Gala for Lahore where she would be staying at her friend Farah Khan’s house, the report said.

The journalist’s statement spread on social media like a wildfire and was widely shared in WhatsApp groups.

When contacted by the media, Farah Khan rejected the news of a fight between Khan and Bushra and their separation. She said the First Lady was not staying at her place.

“I am surprised how someone made this up because Bushra Bibi has not visited Lahore in a long time,” Farah said. “The First Lady is still in Bani Gala with her husband and they didn’t have any fights.”

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, she said that Bushra Bibi is living at Bani Gala, PM Imran’s residence in Islamabad, contrary to reports suggesting that she was staying at Farah Khan’s residence.

“Fake propaganda was being spread about the couple,” she added, the report said.

Farah further said that one should not stoop so low in politics that they start to spread lies about the personal lives of people.

Farah Khan accompanies the first lady when she visits various public welfare projects including shelter homes and hospitals.

During her surprise visits to shelter homes, Bushra Bibi interacts with the destitute to ensure provision of good quality of food and facilities being provided to them.

She also instructs the management of these facilities to further improve the standard of services, the report said.

Talking to one of the occupants of the shelter home last year, the first lady said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had provided shelter to the homeless people, adding that the government is committed to giving people their rights.

Pak TV channel shut down

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Friday issued a show-cause notice to TV channel News One for airing “derogatory/demeaning remarks” about Pakistan Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed without any editorial check in a programme, Dawn reported.

Saeed was singled out for particular praise by Prime Minister Imran Khan for the performance of his Ministry of Communications which ranked first in a ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the top 10 best performing federal ministries, the report said.

The notice reproduced the comments made in the programme where Pakistani anchor Gharida Farooqui questioned her panelists on what was the “(real) reason” for Saeed’s ministry ranking first. A panelist, journalist Mohsin Baig, responded that he did not know but the reason was “written in Reham Khan’s book”.

Another panelist, senior journalist Iftikhar Ahmed, said: “Who is unaware of the performance and the allegations against this man at the top (Saeed).”

Meanwhile, analyst Tariq Mehmood said that some things were “self-explanatory” and asked the anchor to not prod over it since Pemra was watching.

“A book has been mentioned as well. There is nothing hidden about this that Imran Khan likes him a lot and he is a very hard working minister, is very close to Imran Khan and has once again proved that he has left all others behind in performance. So what more do you want me to say,” Mehmood said, the report said.

As per media reports, Imran Khan’s ex-wife Reham Khan had allegedly revealed in her autobiography that Imran, as well as Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi and PTI leader Murad Saeed were homosexuals and were “in a relationship”. (with inputs from Sanjeev Sharma)
