The teen-ager, astonished the celebrated judges by seamlessly performing 21 yoga postures like Marjalasana, Sarvangasana, Utthita Padangusthasana, in just under 1 minute!

Increasingly Yoga is proving to be one of the more popular practices for physical and mental well-being of Dubai’s youth. Mahhika Nasta, was just 11 when she adopted Yoga as a part of her ‘living healthy’ routine. Subtly she was influenced by her parents and older brother, who actively follow yoga and yogic practices in their daily life and seeing the impact it had on them, made Mahhika take it up.

“I found it a bit challenging in the beginning. But my twin sister Muskhan kept encouraging me to keep going. And that is why I persisted.” Soon Mahhika found her body becoming more flexible and she began her sessions more. “I began enjoying the Asnas, the routines, and soon I was getting a lot of compliments for my skill.”

This encouraged Mahhika to take it up as an everyday routine. “It made me more energetic, I could concentrate a lot more even on my studies and I found a rhythm and balance. I started actually wanting to do this even more” says Grade 9th student Mahhika.

For Dubai based Mahhika, Yoga became an expression of artistic display, Yoga was an expression of her confidence. Working on mind body balance, she set up her mat in a clinical manner and was able to perform some tough asnas like Vamadevasana, Hanumanasana, Bakasana on one mat.

This recognition spurred her to gain an entry into the India’s Book of Records. After having practiced Yoga for just 3 years, Mahhika was able to perfect her postures, expressions and grace.

She took a leap of faith to attempt the World Title in India- the land where Yoga was conceived. Barely 14, Mahhika Nasta brought to Dubai, one of the 1st ‘World Yoga Titles’ marking her page in the India Book of Records 2022 for ‘Maximum Yoga Poses performed on a Table’.

This teen-ager, astonished the celebrated judges by seamlessly performing 21 yoga postures like Marjalasana, Sarvangasana, Utthita Padangusthasana, in just under 1 minute! Here is Mahhika proudly sporting her Gold medal, badge, certificate and gifts.

“This is not just for me, but for my Yoga Teacher Bhagya Puttalingappa, who himself is an Indian and Canadian Record Holder, my family, Ambassador School and Dubai, who have supported me in winning this medal,” she told Asian Lite.
