Nepali youth protest against Chinese invasion

Demonstrators displayed placards reading “Return Nepali land encroached by China”and they also chanted that Pillar No. 12 in Humla district should not be moved….reports Asian Lite News

The Nepal Democratic Youth Association on Tuesday staged a protest in Kathmandu against alleged Chinese land encroachment in the Himalayan nation.

Some media reports in Nepal suggested that China has encroached in Humla district and erected new boundary pillars.

The leaders and activists affiliated to the Association staged the protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu.

Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs in August formed a six-member panel to probe and report the land encroachment in Humla.

The panel submitted the report to the Home Minister Bal Krishna Khad on Sunday.

The Home Ministry said that the panel headed by Joint Secretary Jay Narayan Acharya suggested the government to deploy a joint inspection group, inspection committee and formation of an expert team to resolve the boundary issue with China.

The Nepal government has not said anything about publicising the report prepared by Joint Secretary Acharya.

A similar kind of issue was raised by the Nepali media last year too but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu declined having any disputes on the border.

They also demanded to make public the report of the committee formed to study the Nepal-China border from Limi Lapcha to Hilsa.

“The government should make public the Acharya-led report,” Mukesh Kumar Jha, President of the Democratic Youth Association said

“Why is the government silent over Chinese land encroachment in Nepal?”

Jha said that Nepali students who had completed MBBS in China should get a chance to do an internship in Nepal.

Demonstrators displayed placards reading “Return Nepali land encroached by China”. They also chanted that Pillar No. 12 in Humla district should not be moved.

The youth association vowed to be vigilant for the protection of Nepal’s borders.
