Saudi Arabia continues to support international efforts aimed at politically resolving the crisis in Ukraine, said Kingdom’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

His comments came during a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in which they discussed the latest developments in the Ukraine crisis, the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said, the Arab News reported.

The two top diplomats also discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields.

Prince Faisal also received a call from his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, and the two ministers “reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve the aspirations” of their countries, it was reported.

They also discussed the most important regional and international issues of common interest, and aspects of intensifying joint efforts that would enhance international peace and security.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Kiev is counting on holding a summit to discuss the peace plan for Ukraine by the end of February.

“The UN could be the best platform for holding this summit,” Kuleba was quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency as saying, Xinhua news agency reported.

Kuleba said that he believes that Russia is not ready for peace talks, though the minister pointed out that “every war ends as a result of the actions taken on the battlefield and at the negotiating table”.

While commenting on the recent visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States, Kuleba said he was “absolutely satisfied” with its results.

Zelensky put forward a peace plan for ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict at the G20 summit in Indonesia last month.
